New Zealand’s Central North Island is where our story begins - a landscape defined by volcanic soil, wild hill country, coastal wind patterns, and vast stretches of untouched native bush. This is the land that shapes our honey’s potency and character.
Where RARE Mānuka Begins
The heart of our Operation
Rooted in Hawke’s Bay
Our beekeeping base sits in Hawke’s Bay, one of New Zealand’s most diverse natural regions. Here, warm summers, clean coastal air, and rich native flora create the perfect environment for Mānuka to thrive. From this home base, we manage the movement, care, and seasonal preparation of our hives - ensuring consistency no matter how remote the harvest site.
A Wide, Wild Territory
1,500 Hives Across the Central North Island
Our hives live where Mānuka naturally grows - wild, rugged landscapes that remain largely untouched. We place hives only in regions where the land is healthy, isolated, and naturally abundant.
Our 1,500 hives are carefully positioned across Hawkes Bay and throughout a range of regions in Central North Island, New Zealand.
Each region contributes something unique: different flowering windows, varying mineral profiles, and distinct microclimates that influence the natural chemistry of the honey.
Land That Shapes Potency
Microclimate Matters
Mānuka is deeply sensitive to its environment. Slight changes in altitude, rainfall, or wind flow can alter nectar concentration and bioactive compounds.
This is why we choose land deliberately - not for convenience, but for quality.
Across our sites, we monitor:
Native flora density
Seasonal rainfall and humidity
Soil and vegetation health
Mānuka flowering patterns
Bee foraging behaviour
This scientific approach to land selection ensures that every jar reflects genuine geographic purity and the highest natural potency.
Protecting the Places That Sustain Us
Stewardship Over Ownership
We partner with landowners who share our values: protect the land, respect the bees, and keep New Zealand’s native ecosystems thriving.
No heavy machinery.
No chemical sprays.
No disruption to natural growth.
Just careful beekeeping and long-term stewardship.
From Remote Land to Your Table
Every jar of Rare New Zealand honey is a direct expression of the remarkable land it comes from. Traceable, honest, and entirely natural.
